How the calculator works
You type in how many rides your business does per week. Uber, Bolt and direct customers combined. Then the rides a driver does in a shift. In a city that's usually 8 to 14. Then the shifts per week per driver. The calculator takes off the downtime. Illness, breaks, off-peak. You see two numbers. First: the minimum drivers for normal operation. Second: the number with a 15 percent buffer for vacation and illness. That's what you need year-round.

›How many rides per shift are realistic?
In an 8-hour shift in Berlin or Munich, 10 to 14 rides is normal. In rural areas or off-peak, less. For planning use the median of your last weeks. Not your best day.
›Why a 15 percent buffer for vacation?
German labor law requires at least 20 vacation days per year. Plus sick days (about 15 per year on average). Plus public holidays. Together that's about 15 percent downtime. You need the buffer. Otherwise someone will be missing.
›What about night and weekend shifts?
Night and weekend rides often bring more revenue. But drivers don't always want them. Calculate separately for your core hours and for night and weekend. That's more realistic than an average.
