Cost factor: 1,37 × gross

You pay the driver 12 euros gross per hour. Then the tax advisor comes. He says: the driver actually costs your business 17 euros per hour. The difference is called the full-cost factor. If you don't know it, you set prices that don't hold up. This calculator shows the real costs behind every gross wage.

How the calculator works

It takes your gross wage. Then it adds the employer share of social security (pension, unemployment, health, care insurance, about 21 percent). A buffer for vacation (20 paid vacation days is about 8 percent). A buffer for illness (average 15 sick days is about 4 percent). The Berufsgenossenschaft fee (mandatory for rental-car businesses). And side costs like training or work clothes. In the end, you see the monthly full-cost value. And the factor for quick head math.

What Fahrly does for you

Full costs per driver are not always the same. They depend on sick days, vacation, bonuses. The HR module in Fahrly calculates real full costs for every driver, every month. With the real social security payments. The real sick days. The real bonuses. The Finance module uses these full costs in your car margin and your business margin. You don't just see the fares. You see what you really earn with this driver and this car. Not the pretty number. The real one.

Calculate fully. Decide cleanly.

Häufig gestellte Fragen

Why are real costs so much higher than gross wage?

Gross is only part of it. Add: employer share of social security (about 21 percent). Reserve for vacation and illness (the driver is also paid when not working, on average 12 percent extra). Berufsgenossenschaft fee and side costs. A driver on 2,500 euro gross realistically costs the business 3,400 to 3,600 euro.

What's the 1.3 or 1.4 factor I often hear about?

That's the full-cost factor. Full cost divided by gross wage. In German rental-car businesses it's usually between 1.35 and 1.45. Calculating with 1.3 puts costs too low. With 1.4 you're usually on the safe side.

Does this also apply to commission drivers?

For employed drivers on commission pay: yes. You still have to pay social security. For self-employed drivers, the driver pays it himself. For employed commission drivers, the full-cost factor is close to fixed-salary drivers.
