A Mietwagen costs money the moment it's registered. Leasing, insurance, tax. These costs come in. Even if the car sits still. To carry itself, the car must do enough rides. This calculator shows the minimum. Fewer rides means loss. More rides means profit.
How the calculator works
We split costs into two blocks. First: fixed costs. That's leasing, insurance, tax and a share of admin. They come every month. It doesn't matter if the car drives. Second: variable costs. That's fuel and wear. Plus the driver commission. They only come per ride. The net fare minus variable costs minus commission is the contribution per ride. You divide the fixed costs by this contribution. The result is the minimum number of rides. Your break-even.

›What is contribution per ride?
It's the amount left per ride to pay the fixed costs. After fuel, wear and driver commission. Example: 8 euros contribution per ride. 1,500 euros fixed costs per month. You need 188 rides so you don't lose money.
›What counts as fixed costs?
The leasing or loan rate. Insurance. Vehicle tax. A share of admin like bookkeeping, tax advisor and software. Plus base maintenance like TUEV. These costs come in whether the car drives or sits still.
›I'm below break-even. Sell or drive more?
